ABOUT

Emily Kovacic is a Western Pennsylvania based music and portrait photographer. Her work in music photography concentrates on breaking the classic methodology of photographing concerts through the use of abstraction. Each image is unique in that it can’t be replicated once produced; similar to experiencing the live performance itself. Therefore, that uniqueness of the moment is forever frozen.

In 2014, Emily founded E Minor Media which was an online music publication she photographed shows for the publication as well as overseeing a contributing staff. In 2015 she created an online quarterly digital zine titled Polarize. With much success from the zine she decided to solely focus on it in 2017. Polarize Zine was created to break the divide between the fans and performers by the photographer. The magazine features live show photos, portraits, and interviews. She has photographed countless artists and covered festivals such as Four Chord Music Festival, Thrival, and Vans Warped Tour. She has also contributed to many online music publications offering her photography and reviews.

Emily’s focus on portraiture came to light through her studies in undergrad. She fell in love with use of natural light and studio light to create her striking images. She received her undergraduate education at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.

With Western Pennsylvania as her home base Emily is hoping to travel and make images. She is available for tour, promotional, senior class portraits, and live concerts.
